There is no direct maritime influence; climate here reflects the broader Southern Rhône Mediterranean pattern with some local moderation from the nearby Dentelles de Montmirail.
The Dentelles de Montmirail lie just to the north, but Vacqueyras's own vineyard land is generally flatter and more even than Gigondas's more varied hillside terrain, with somewhat less dramatic elevation change across the appellation.
The Mistral affects Vacqueyras much as it does the wider Southern Rhône, generally beneficial in reducing humidity and disease pressure across the appellation's open terrain.
